Vulnerability Name: | CCN-12893
Published: | 2003-08-10
Updated: | 2003-08-10 | ||||||
Summary: | FreeBSD is vulnerable to a denial of service. Signals handle asynchronous events and are assigned a positive number. Many mechanisms in FreeBSD, such as system calls and device drivers, fail to validate the signal number. A local attacker could cause a negative or out-of-range signal number to be sent, which would cause the system to crash.
