Updated: | 2007-12-01 | ||||||
Summary: | Mozilla Firefox could allow a remote attacker to bypass cross-site scripting protection and perform cross-site scripting attacks on vulnerable Web applications, caused by improper validation of user-supplied input when the default charset of a parent page is inherited by a child frame. A remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability by creating a specially-crafted Web page containing malicious charset-encoded script which would be executed in a victim's Web browser within the security context of the hosting Web site, once the page is viewed. An attacker could use this vulnerability to steal the victim's cookie-based authentication credentials.
Note: To exploit this vulnerability, a remote attacker would have to persuade the victim to manually change the charset on the parent page to UTF-7. | ||||||
