Summary:Wireshark (formerly Ethereal) is vulnerable to a denial of service, caused by improper handling of NCF packets. By persuading a victim to open a malformed Tamosoft CommView .ncf packet capture file or by sending a specially-crafted NCF packet, a remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability to cause an assertion failure, resulting in a denial of service.
