Vulnerability Name:

CCN-5974

Published:2001-01-16

Summary:InterNet News (INN) daemon creates temporary files with predictable file names without properly checking for symbolic links. If the INN program is installed to use the /tmp directory for temporary files, a local attacker can create a symbolic link in the /tmp directory to overwrite files and obtain privileges of the user running inn.
