Vulnerability Name: | CCN-62245
Published: | 2010-10-01
Updated: | 2010-10-01 | ||||||
Summary: | The Python SSL module could allow a remote attacker to conduct spoofing attacks, caused by the failure to check if the Common Name field within SSL server certificates matches the hostname of a server. By persuading a victim to visit a Web site containing a specially-crafted certificate, a remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability using man-in-the-middle techniques to cause the victim to accept spoofed certificates.
Note: This vulnerability also affects other applications that use the Python module.
