Vulnerability Name:

CCN-7744

Published:2001-12-28
Updated:2001-12-28
Summary:VIM (Vi IMproved) could allow a remote attacker to view the source code of a script that has been edited with VIM, if the (backup) option is enabled. In VIM versions 3.0 and earlier the file would be renamed to a filename appended with '.bak' and in VIM versions 4.0 and later the file would be renamed to a filename appended with a '~' character. A remote attacker can send a URL request containing the modified filename of a script that has been edited to bypass the server side processing and obtain the source code of the script.
