Vulnerability Name: | CCN-7899
Published: | 2002-01-08
Updated: | 2002-01-08 | ||||||
Summary: | The implementation of BIND (Berkeley Internet Name Daemon) included with Mandrake Linux uses insecure permissions on certain configuration files. A local attacker could gain read access to the /etc/rndc.conf file and the /etc/rndc.key file and obtain sensitive information about the system, including information such as system passwords and domain authority information. In addition, an attacker could also use this vulnerability to execute the rndc-confgen and rndc programs, which are usually only executable by the root user.
